Obituary: Joseph P. Cavanagh, 72, of Guilford

A talented musician who played with many bands, he worked for Metro-North and was a decades-long Shore Line ​Trolley Museum volunteer.

Joseph P. Cavanagh, 72, of Guilford, passed away peacefully at home on April 12 surrounded by his daughter. He was the son of the late Helen (Layden) and Joseph A. Cavanagh. Loving father to Kelly Cavanagh-Burke. He is also survived by his grandchildren Carlene and Charles.

Joe worked for Metro-North and had many jobs over his thirty years with the company. He also loved volunteering for the Shore Line Trolley Museum since he moved to CT in the 1970’s.

He was a well respected and talented musician, working with many bands throughout his life. He also took a lot of pride in his home which many friends would drive by with a honk and in return, he would give a friendly wave.

A private celebration for family will be held at a future date.
