Obituary: Richard F. Ostafin, 81, of Guilford
He proudly served his country in the US Army as a member of the missile battalion serving in Korea in the early 1960s.
Thursday, October 12, 2023 Richard F. Ostafin, longtime resident of Guilford, passed away at his home. Loving husband of the late Rosemary (Peluso) Ostafin. Richard was born in Hartford on July 16, 1942, son of the late Frederick Ostafin and Nellie (Shemansky) Ostafin. Loving father of Karen Marie (Ostafin) Dubois and her husband David of Cheshire, Stephen D. Ostafin of Guilford and the late Kristin Anne Ostafin. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Zachary, Connor, Jacob, and Michael Dubois, and Brandon and Alexa Ostafin. Brother of Ronald Ostafin, and Deborah Shore. He leaves behind many nieces nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by his sister Dolores Day.
Mr. Ostafin proudly served his country in the US Army as a member of the missile battalion serving in Korea in the early 1960s. Richard is a 1960 graduate of Bulkeley High School in Hartford. He had a 35+ year career in the insurance industry beginning in commercial real estate before retiring from The Hartford as a Manager in the Specialty Excess underwriting unit. He enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox play baseball, following the financial markets, and spending time with his family and friends.

Friends are invited to calling hours on Monday, Oct. 16 from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 10 a.m. in St. George Church, 33 Whitfield St, Guilford. Burial will follow in St. George Cemetery, Hubbard Rd, Guilford.
