No
Previous public office, appointive or elective:
Four terms of elected office in Guilford, two on the Board of Education (2009-2017) and two on the Board of Selectmen (2017-present).
Why are you seeking this office?
I care deeply about our community. I have demonstrated during my previous service that I am capable of thinking critically, making wise decisions in the best interest of Guilford, and will continue to do so for the next four years.
The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
Affordability. I plan to continue to question spending and examine budgets closely so we can continue to hold spending growth below inflation, pay equal attention to long term needs, and encourage smart growth that raises the grand list.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
The best decisions are made by people with a variety of viewpoints and skill sets working together for a common objective. My mindset as a CPA and my experience running the finances of a large, complex corporation are unique among the candidates. I have also lived here the longest, raising the most kids here, which I believe gives me some additional perspective.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
Transparency, housing, sustainability.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
The evidence is in the results. Guilford is a wonderful place to live and a very well run community, and I’m proud to be one of the elected and appointed officials whose hard work and good decisions have made this happen. I’d also cite the respect I’ve earned from my colleagues regardless of political affiliation.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
Simply to be true to myself, and always do what I know in my heart to be right.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I’d like the voters to know that I represent the traditional moderate Republican perspective that still exists and resonates in Guilford. And I hope to continue to show that government can operate with civility, respect, and effectiveness.
