FEMA Stops by Guilford Emergency Shelter in Sandy's Aftermath to provide a recovery checklist for those interested in applying for assistance

Yesterday, FEMA stopped by Guilford Community Center's Emergency Shelter to provide a Disaster Recovery Checklist for Guilford Residents. If you are interested in applying for aid after Sandy's impact, please refer to the following checklist for instructions:

1.) Call your insurance company

2.) Register with FEMA for assistance-

  • TTY: 1-800-462-7585
  • Or Visit www.DisasterAssistance.gov

3.) Write down and save your 9-digit FEMA registration number

4.) Meet with the FEMA housing inspector

5.) Complete and return the SBA application immediately if you receive one

6.) Call FEMA if you receive any letters I do not understand or if you have not heard from FEMA within a two-week period

7.) Tell FEMA about any changes in your status... address, phone number, insurance payments
