The Spice & Tea Exchange Of Guilford Celebrates 10 Years Of Flavor
The Spice & Tea Exchange of Guilford is nestled along the town Green and has become a staple in the community.

GUILFORD, CT — When Cindy Wright followed her nose into The Spice & Tea Exchange® of Boca Raton on a Florida vacation, she had no idea that 14 years later, she would be celebrating a decade of owning her own store. What started as love at first sight has grown into a family venture that has served as a learning experience and bonding opportunity for Cindy and her co-owner/eldest daughter, Jennifer Asbury. The Spice and Tea Exchange of Guilford, located on the Guilford Green at 80 Whitfield Street, is celebrating its milestone beginning on Wednesday, November 20th.
“When I discovered I could have my own store, I knew this was what I wanted, but I didn’t want to do it alone. I originally asked my daughter and got a resounding no,” laughs Cindy Wright, co-owner of The Spice & Tea Exchange of Guilford. “A few years later, Jenn ended up in a Spice & Tea Exchange in Delaware and fell in love. After that, everything else just fell into place.”
The Spice & Tea Exchange of Guilford is nestled along the town Green and has become a staple in the community. Wright and Asbury have created a welcoming space where the staff feels more like family. Guests can enjoy sustainably sourced spices, herbs, botanicals, and hand-mixed blends served with a smile. Chat up the owners, and patrons can find that Jennifer’s tried and true staple is the Coastal Blend Seasoning, while Cindy favors the Northwest Salmon Rub. Local businesses have been enjoying the Hometown Wholesale program, which offers them substantially lower prices on products. Guilford also carries local favorites, like honey from Cheshire, their top seller. Both agree that the idyllic vibe of Guilford makes their location extra special.

“There’s such a community feel in the air during events like the Citizen’s Parade and the Christmas Tree Lighting,” smiles Jennifer Asbury, co-owner of The Spice & Tea Exchange. “And being right on the Green, our store can be a part of it. That’s something that sets us apart–at heart, we’re a neighborhood shop.”
The five-day celebration kicks off on Wednesday, November 20th, with a ribbon cutting at 3 p.m. that is open to the public. Guests can spin a prize wheel to earn savings and free products. The fun continues until 6 p.m. with an open house featuring hor d’oeuvres, refreshments, and hot tea. November 21st features in-store savings: large spice grinders are $12, minis are $9, and shaker blends are 2 for $25. November 22nd is Retro Friday, when the store throws blend prices back to when they first opened. Tea lovers can also receive a free infuser when they purchase three 2-oz. teas. Patrons shopping over the weekend can enjoy 15% off their purchases of $50 or more. The store will also run a raffle throughout the celebration for a basket loaded with goodies, with the drawing on Sunday. Refreshments will be offered daily.
