UPDATE: Guilford Cops Say Suspect Identified in Credit Card Theft

GUILFORD, CT - The Guilford Police Department is saying on its Facebook page this morning that thanks to the public's help a suspect has been identified in a January 7th case in which a suspect attempted to use stolen credit cards from a Guilford woman's purse that was stolen from her car.

A person then attempted to make purchases first in Guilford and then two days later in New York.
Police are not yet saying who the suspect is.

Guilford Police responded to a larceny from a vehicle on Jan. 7 around 6 p.m. at a local gym parking lot. The passenger side window was smashed and a purse that was left on the passenger side floor was stolen, police said.

A few minutes after the theft, a white female with what appears to be red dyed long hair, is seen entering Guilford Walmart and using stolen cards from the victim’s purse to make a $500 gift card purchase, police said. She attempted to make a second $500 gift card purchase but was declined, police said.

On Jan. 9 at roughly 3:30 p.m., the same female was attempting to cash a stolen check (from a Rhode Island victim) in Bronxville, New York, using the stolen ID from the Guilford victim, police said. The vehicle from bank imaging appears to be a grey or silver Dodge Caravan.

"We would like to remind everyone that crimes of opportunity like this can and do happen here in Guilford. Please keep your valuables hidden or remove them from your vehicle and always lock your car," police said.
