What Are Guilford Kids Thinking?
Find out Tuesday, May 21 at 6 p.m. The results of a community survey will be presented and discussed. You are invited.

A community-wide initiative to create a healthier environment for Guilford youth will be presenting the results of a survey Tuesday, May 21 at 6 p.m. at the Nathanael Greene Community Center.
Dana Pelliccio, the prevention coordinator for IT'S WORTH IT/A D.A.Y. Initiative, says it's a meeting that parents and other community members won't want to miss.
"The survey that we distributed is called the Search Institute Survey: Profiles of Student Life," she said. "It is important because it provides our community with data on the attitudes and behaviors of Guilford students. More specifically, the survey gives us information about our youth's developmental assets and risky behaviors."
According to research, the more assets kids have the less likely they are to engage in high risk behaviors (such as violence, sexual activity and drug use) and the more likely they are to engage in thriving behaviors (such as helping others, doing well in school and taking on leadership roles), Pelliccio said.
"The community forum will provide an opportunity to learn how Guilford youth responded to the 2012 Search Institute Survey and how the community can help increase assets in our youth," she said. She added that "it's worth it for the Guilford community to learn what our kids are thinking!"
