Mother, 7-Year-Old Child Killed In Head-On Crash In Hamden

Heroic efforts were made to save the two people killed in the crash, fire officials said.

HAMDEN, CT — A mother and her seven-year-old child have died in a multi-vehicle crash late Saturday, police said.

At 10: 13 p.m., a head-on collision on Davis Street by Rogers Road involved two vehicles and resulted in five patients being transported to the hospital.

"Sadly, we must report that two individuals, including a seven-year-old child, lost their lives despite the heroic efforts of medical teams," fire officials said. "We want to express our gratitude to all first responders who worked tirelessly at the scene to assist those affected. Your dedication and commitment to saving lives do not go unnoticed."

"In light of this tragic event, our Peer Support Team has been activated to support our firefighters and ensure they have the resources they need. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends impacted by this heartbreaking incident. Please join us in sending love and strength to those grieving," fire officials said.

Police confirmed that the child's mother died in the crash. The front seat occupants of the other vehicle suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries. The services of the Hamden Police Social Worker is being offered to all persons involved in this incident, to include the first responders, police said.

Members of the Hamden Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and will be conducting the investigation. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call The Hamden Police Traffic Division at 203-230-4000.
