Barking Dog Alerted Resident To Burglar, Hamden Man Arrested: Darien Police
A Hamden man was arrested on July 17 in connection with the incident, according to Darien police.
HAMDEN, CT — A 19-year-old Hamden man wanted in connection with a burglary in Darien from last December was arrested on July 17 on a court-issued warrant, according to police.
Khalil Council was charged with conspiracy to commit second-degree burglary, his arrest report says.
Police say a barking dog helped alert a Darien resident to the burglary on Dec. 20, 2024.

On that date, officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Garden City Road, police said.
While canvassing the area, the officers were flagged down by a resident who reported a burglary at their home, police said.

"The victim stated they went downstairs after their dog barked and found a pried-open window and an open front door," police said in an arrest report.
Council was identified as a suspect through license plate reader data and self-incriminating statements, police said.
"During a previous arrest by Darien detectives, Council admitted to being in the suspicious vehicle during the burglary," police added.
Council turned himself in on July 17 after a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was unable to post a court-set bond of $150,000, and is scheduled to appear in court on July 31.
