Bus Shelters Removed After Homelessness Complaints In Hamden: Report

The town is replacing two bus shelters after complaints that unhoused people were living in them, according to a report.

HAMDEN, CT — The town is expected to install open-air bus shelters to replace two structures that were recently removed on Skiff Street after complaints that unhoused people were living in them, according to the New Haven Register.

The Register reports the town removed the shelters at the still-operating bus stop between the Kohl's and Hamden Mart shopping plazas last week.

Mayor Lauren Garrett told the Register that outreach workers offered services to the two unhoused people who had been living there, but they repeatedly refused support.
