Popular Restaurant Reopens After Crash In Hamden
A driver was hospitalized after crashing into, and significantly damaging, a restaurant in Hamden.
HAMDEN, CT — The Ugly Dumpling has reopened less than one day after a car crashed into the restaurant and significantly damaged the building.
A driver was hospitalized after crashing into the Ugly Dumpling restaurant on Thursday. The restaurant is located in the former TGI Fridays space at 2335 Dixwell Ave. in Hamden.
"We’re grateful for the quick response from first responders and for everyone who has reached out after yesterday’s incident at our Ugly Dumpling Hamden location," the Ugly Dumpling wrote in a post on Facebook on Friday. "After thorough inspections and clearance from local officials, we’re happy to share that we are safely reopening today. Some sections of our building will remain blocked off as repairs continue, but our dining areas and kitchen are fully operational.

The Ugly Dumpling is listed as “temporarily closed,” according to its website.
"Earlier today, a vehicle struck our Ugly Dumpling Hamden location," reads a post on the restaurant's Facebook page. "We’re incredibly grateful to share that everyone, including our guests, team members, and the driver, is safe.
"We’re working closely with local authorities and our building team to assess the damage and understand the extent of repairs needed. While Ugly Dumpling will remain temporarily closed during this time, we’ll share updates as soon as we have a timeline to reopen.
"We appreciate the outpouring of concern and support from our community and look forward to welcoming everyone back soon."
The much-anticipated restaurant recently opened in the former TGI Fridays space at 2335 Dixwell Ave. in Hamden.
