Co-Owner Of Popular Hamden Brewery Dies Unexpectedly, Mourned
The man, who is being remembered for his selflessness and generosity, "would do anything for his friends and family."
HAMDEN, CT — Haven Beer Company in Hamden is mourning the death of co-owner Kevin Fitzsimmons, who died unexpectedly last week, according to a post on the popular brewery and taproom’s Facebook page.
“Haven Beer Company was Kevin’s lifelong dream, and he cared so deeply for every member of our team and for all of our customers,” the post reads. “His passion and deep kindness helped shape Haven into what it is today.
“We have never been more committed to honoring Kevin’s legacy and continuing the work he loved so much.”

Fitzsimmons, 49, was also heavily involved with the designing, planning, and building of Dockside Brewery in Milford from its “inception to its completion,” according to his obituary.
Fitzsimmons was the general manager at Dockside Brewery before realizing his “lifelong dream and passion” of owning his own restaurant with Haven Beer Company.

“Kevin was selfless and one of the most generous people!” the obituary reads. “He had a huge heart and would do anything for his friends and family. He was extremely funny and always kept us laughing. Anyone who met him would leave the room laughing. Kevin made an indelible mark in many people’s lives and his legacy at Kevin’s Castle in which he built will live on forever.”
Calling hours will be held from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24 at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Avenue in Hamden.
