Community Staple Being Transformed Into New Sports Facility In Hamden

HAMDEN, CT — A Hamden-based indoor sports and recreation facility is being transformed into a new state-of-the art soccer facility, according to officials.

The Arena, located at 1018 Sherman Avenue in Hamden, is now a part of the “Socceroof” family, according to a news release.

“For years, The Arena has been a gathering place for soccer players in New Haven County,” the news release states. “Now, under the Socceroof name, the facility will receive a fresh look and upgrades to make the experience even better for players, families, and fans.

“Socceroof’s concept transforms traditional indoor soccer into a dynamic, social, and inclusive experience: featuring top-tier turf, and a vibrant atmosphere where players of all skill levels can thrive.”

The Hamden facility is undergoing a revamp that includes upgraded fields, improved amenities, and “enhanced spectator spaces, all designed to deliver an unmatched experience for players and fans alike,” according to the news release.

“As part of this transition, we’re proud to bring more businesses and resources to the town of Hamden, helping provide children with a safe place to play and enjoy sports, while supporting local organizations and strengthening community ties.”

Socceroof COO Jonathan Lupinelli said, “The Arena has been a cornerstone for soccer in the community, and we’re honored to build on that legacy. Our vision to make the game even more fun, accessible, and memorable for everyone who steps through our doors.”

The Hamden Regional Chamber of Commerce will host a grand opening and business after hours celebration at the facility on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 4:30 p.m.
