East Haven Man Facing Forgery Charges

An East Haven man was arrested on a warrant recently for allegedly filling a prescription for Oxycodone that was forged, according to police.

On Oct. 17, 2012, Hamden Police responded to Rite Aid at 2175 Dixwell Ave. on the reportof a fraudulent prescription, according to police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.

There they found that Joseph Giordano, 33, of 22 Gordon St., East Haven, allegedly presented the pharmacist with a forged prescription for 90 Oxycodone tablets, Smith said. Pharmacists had filled the prescription, Smith said.

Officer Patrick McCue conducted the investigation that determined that the prescription was forged, Smith said, which led to the application of an arrest warrant for Giordano. 

On Jan. 11, Giordano was arrested at Meriden Superior Court, where he was appearing on unrelated charges, Smith said. He was charged with third-degree forgery and illegally obtaining narcotics. He is due to appear in court on Feb. 11.
