Fisherman Fined, Fish Seized At Sleeping Giant State Park In Hamden: Police

A fisherman was fined for violations at the Mill River within Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — A fisherman was fined approximately $1,800 for violations at the Mill River TMA (Trout Management Area) within Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden on Monday, according to the Connecticut State Environmental Conservation Police.

Police said that a southwest officer was performing compliance checks in the area and found that one angler was 12 trout over the daily creel limit.

“The limit for this particular area is 2 trout at a 9” minimum,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “It was also determined that the angler did not possess a current fishing license or trout stamp. The angler was issued approximately $1,800 in fines and the fish were seized to be donated to a local wildlife Rehabilitation center. (To feed injured raptors and other mammals).”
