Frederick “Fred” Lombardi, 86 of East Haven passed away peacefully at home on January 2, 2026. He was born June 27, 1939 in New Haven to Charles and Amelia (Santabarbara) Lombardi. Fred is survived by his five children; Richard Lombardi (Alicia) of East Haven, Evelyn Dunn (Timothy) of CA, Mitchell Lombardi of Hamden, Marc Lombardi and Nicole Lombardi. Fred is also survived by two grandchildren; Ricky Lombardi and Tyler Dunn, five great-grandchildren; Angela Lombardi, Dominic Lombardi, Olivia Lombardi, Emma Lombardi & Rocco Lombardi along with two siblings; Louis Lombardi (Sherry) and Charles Lombardi.
Frederick is preceded in death by his parents and two sons; Frederick Lombardi Jr. and Michael Lombardi.
Fred was a hard-working man who never quite mastered the art of sitting still. He spent the majority of his career in the petroleum industry, initially delivering fuel for Mobil before owning his own Mobil station on Route 66 in Middletown. He took great pride in his work and continued driving part-time for A&G Contracting long after most men his age had retired.

Fred's happiest moments were spent with the people he loved and the hobbies that kept him young at heart. He loved to be out on the water, captaining his crabbing boat, aptly named "Crab Sauce." On land, he could be found playing Bocce at the East Haven beach with "The Gents." When he finally found his way to the couch, it was usually to watch Western movies on repeat, often drifting into a nap that he insisted was just him "resting his eyes." Dependable, sincere, and always willing to lend a hand, Fred will be remembered for his work ethic, humor, and the love he had for his family.
Family will receive friends on Monday January 12, 2026 from 4 to 7 PM in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday January 13 at 11 AM in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, 80 Taylor Ave., East Haven with Burial/Committal to follow at St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford.
