Hamden Approves Final Budget for Upcoming Fiscal Year

The Legislative Council approved the spending plan following a long, difficult budget season.

Hamden, CT --The Legislative Council approved a $221.14 million budget for fiscal year 2016-17 that includes a tax increase.

The New Haven Register reports the approved budget carries a tax rate that is lower than the one proposed by Mayor Curt Leng, 45.36 compared to 45.86, but the Republicans on the council said it didn't go far enough.

Democrats Harry Gagliardi and Eric Annes joined the council's three Republicans in voting against the budget.
