Hamden Book Group Discusses 'The Sellout' At Miller Memorial Library

The group will discuss the Booker Prize and the National Book Critics Circle Award for fiction winner, "The Sellout" by Paul Beatty.

From the Hamden Public Library: The Hamden Book Group will be discussing the Booker Prize and the National Book Critics Circle Award for fiction winner, “The Sellout” by Paul Beatty on Monday, June 26th at 7:00 pm and Thursday, June 29th at 2:00 pm in the Friends Room at Miller Memorial Library on Dixwell Avenue, Hamden.

In an April, 2015 review in the New York Times, Kevin Young writes, “Beatty’s novel is a metaphorical multicultural pot almost too hot to touch,” and “If not a classic, “The Sellout” is destined to be a really good cult jam. It’s a post-soul parody, trying to feel more like the skits between songs than the song itself.”

There is no fee for the program, and the public is welcome to attend. Copies of the book are available at the library. For more information please call 287-2680.
