Hamden Democrats to Honor Peter Villano

The Democratic Town Committee's annual Spring Gala fundraiser, to be held on May 1 at Cascade Fine Catering Banquet Facility, will honor the former 91st State Representative.

The Hamden Democratic Party will honor longtime Hamden legislator Peter Villano at its annual Spring Gala fundraiser on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cascade Fine Catering Banquet Facility, 480 Sherman Ave., Hamden.

Villano recently retired after serving as State Representative from the 91st General Assembly district, from 1993 to 2012. During his 20 years as a State Representative, Peter worked tirelessly on behalf of seniors. In 2001, he was named Legislator of the Year by the Connecticut Coalition on Aging.

Before his election to the General Assembly, Peter served as Hamden’s mayor from 1981 to 1985 and prior to that, he served as an aide to Congressman Robert Giaimo.

“Peter Villano’s contributions to Hamden have been extraordinary,” said Hamden DTC Chairman Lew Panzo. "He has helped to make Hamden what it is today. I am proud and glad that Peter has agreed to let us honor him on May 1, a tribute to a great citizen of Hamden that is long overdue.”

Tickets to the Spring Gala are $60 per person and can be obtained from any member of the Hamden Democratic Town Committee, by visiting the Hamden Democratic Party on Facebook, or by calling Joseph McDonagh at 203-676-6271.
