No
Previous public office, appointive or elective:
I currently serve on the Hamden Board of Education. I have served one year.
Why are you seeking this office?
I would like to continue learning about my local government functions and advocate for the children and families of Hamden.
The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
TAXES We, in Hamden, have recently and are still going through an extremely difficult budget season. The reevaluation has caused tremendous anxiety with many residents fearing the loss of their homes. I believe many of us feel unheard and are finding it very difficult to get answers about our town finances. I'd like to see MORE transparency.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I feel it's time to focus on the people of Hamden, the taxpayers of Hamden.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
I'd like to play a role in curriculum development, the health and safety of our children and students and help to create family and community activities in our schools that can bring communities together.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I have lived Hamden for 22 years. I moved from North Haven where I was born, educated and worked in the No. Haven public schools for 20 years. Before entering teaching, after SCSU Grad school, I worked for No. Haven Parks and Recreation for 20 years as Director of Summer Playgrounds, Director of Summer Day Camp and many other roles.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
Never quit.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I am honored to serve on the Hamden BoE and would like to continue to be an advocate for the children and families of Hamden.
