A winner of the 2018 Man Booker Prize and National Book Critics’ Circle Award for Fiction, as well as the 2020 International DUBLIN Literary Award, “Milkman” is a dynamic work of historical and psychological fiction. Set in Northern Ireland during the Troubles of the 1970’s, the story focuses on an eighteen year old woman nicknamed Middle Sister, who is living with her widowed mother and sisters and coming of age in a Catholic, separatist stronghold. She unexpectedly meets and finds herself pursued by a paramilitary soldier known as Milkman. Despite her attempts to avoid Milkman, gossip starts to spread and tensions rise in her community in vast and unthinkable ways. Praise for “Milkman” includes the following from the UK Guardian: “[Milkman] is engrossing, [it is] a book that engulfs you and keeps you held and mesmerized.”
