Hamden Man, 19, Caught Breaking Into Vehicles In North Haven: Police
Police said one of the vehicles had its window smashed.
NORTH HAVEN, CT — A 19-year-old Hamden man is accused of breaking into vehicles in North Haven on Wednesday, according to police.
Police responded around 5 p.m. on Oct. 15 to the area of Best Buy on Universal Drive on the report of a vehicle break-in.
The suspect was seen leaving the scene on foot, according to police.

While en route, police said officers received a second report of another vehicle with a smashed window, with the same suspect reportedly seen running from that location as well.
Arriving officers found and detained 19-year-old Khalil Council of Hamden, who police said matched the suspect’s description.

Following witness interviews and further investigation, Council was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary and second-degree criminal mischief, according to police.
“Our officers remain committed to being proactive in addressing and preventing property crimes throughout our community,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “Increased patrols and quick response times continue to play a key role in holding offenders accountable and keeping our neighborhoods safe. We will do everything we can to locate, arrest, and successfully prosecute those committing crimes in North Haven.
“We thank the community for their vigilance and cooperation.”
