Hamden Man Arrested In Tolland Home Invasion Case: State Police

A Hamden man is accused of invading a home he was banned from in Tolland, according to a warrant.

TOLLAND, CT — A Hamden man who was banned from a property in Tolland broke into the home and is now facing serious criminal charges, according to a warrant.

At 3:15 a.m. Wednesday, 32-year-old Hamden Resident Gelbert Fuentes was located by police in his hometown and arrested on the strength of an active warrant out of the state police Troop C barracks, according to a report. The warrant for Fuentes' arrest stemmed from a disturbance at a residence in Tolland on July 18, state police said.

  • Home invasion
  • Disorderly conduct
  • Interfering with an emergency call
  • Violation of protective order
  • Third-degree assault
  • Second-degree unlawful restraint

Fuentes was initially held on a $150,000 court-set bond, and that was cut in half at his arraignment that same day. He posted the $75,000 bond and is scheduled for a second appearance in Rockville Superior Court on Aug. 11.

According to a warrant, at 2:04 a.m. on July 18, state police were called to a home on Robin Circle for the second time during the overnight period. A woman said Fuentes, who has had a protective order against him, broke into the home through a garage window, entered a bedroom and pinned his forearm against her neck, according to a warrant.

He is also accused in a warrant of shoving the woman.

Last week wasn't the only arrest in the area for Fuentes, judicial system records show. On May 28, he was charged with violating conditions of release, a day after he was charged with criminal damage of property, among other transgressions, records show.

On June 9, he was charged with leaving the scene of a crash and reckless driving in Vernon, judicial system records show.
