Hamden Man Charged in Theft of Landscaping Equipment

About $13,000 worth of landscaping equipment was stolen last month from a Sherman Avenue business, according to police.

A Hamden man is facing charges in connection with a burglar that occurred last month at a town landscaping business.

On March 7 Hamden Police received a report of a burglary at Phoenix Landscaping at 2 Sherman Lane, according to police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.

Officers found that someone had broken into the business and stolen about $13,000 worth of landscaping equipment, Smith said. One of the items stolen was eventually recovered, Smith said.

Det. William Onofrio, who was involved in the investigation, submitted an arrest warrant application to the court for Joseph Flonc, 43, of 40 Austen Road, Hamden, Smith said. On Wednesday Flonc was arrested at his home, Smith said.

Flonc was charged with third-degree burglary and third-degree larceny. He was held in lieu of $2,500.00 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on May 1.
