Hamden Man Charged In Shooting Of Teenager In New Haven: PD
Two men face gun and assault charges in connection with a shooting in New Haven, according to police.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Two men, one from New Haven, the other from Hamden, are facing numerous charges in connection with the non-fatal shooting of an 18-year-old found in a Hazel Street backyard suffering from a gunshot wound, police said. The teen survived his injuries.
After an investigation by the New Haven police Investigative Services Division with Detective Maegan Moran as lead, warrants were secured for Tyrick Warren, 30, of New Haven, and Branden Harper, 29, of Hamden, according to police spokesperson officer Christian Bruckhart.
Warren is charged with first-degree assault, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, first-degree reckless endangerment, and conspiracy to commit first-degree reckless endangerment. He's been in jail since Nov. 15, 2023 on unrelated charges. His bail is set at $300,000.

In connection with the shooting, Harper is charged with first-degree assault, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, possession of assault weapons, criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, first-degree reckless endangerment, and conspiracy to commit first-degree reckless endangerment.
Last week, on March 27, Harper was taken into custody after trying to flee a traffic stop in New Haven, Bruckhart said. In addition to the arrest warrant charges, he was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell, reckless driving, and interfering with police, Bruckhart said.
