Hamden Man Facing Weapons Charges
He was allegedly caught riding a bicycle with a machete hanging from his waist, according to police.

A Hamden man is facing weapons charges after police allegedly caught him riding a bicycle with a machete hanging from his waist.
About 8:30 a.m. Thursday Officer Joseph Liguori saw a man riding a bicycle on Circular Avenue with "a weapon exposed near his waistline," according to Hamden Police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.
Liguori stopped the man, identified as Terrance Williams, 32, of 126 Church St., Hamden, and saw under his shirt the machete, which had an 18 inch cutting surface, Smith said.

"Williams told police that he uses the machete to 'do tree work,'" Smith said.Â
Williams was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon. He posted $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on July 31.
