Charles S. Ferguson, 81, passed away on April 12, 2013 at the VA Hospital in West Haven, CT.
He was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Charles A. Ferguson and Helen Crichlow Ferguson. He retired from the United States Postal Service in 1998 after 41 years of service. He served faithfully as one of Jehovah's Witnesses for over 50 years.
Charles enjoyed listening to jazz records and he also played the trumpet, drums and other instruments. Whenever times were difficult and Charles was asked how things were going with him, he would calmly reply with a smile, "I can't complain." When greeting friends and loved ones he would ask, "How's it going?" and instead of saying good-bye, he would just say, "Have a good rest of the day."
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rachel R. Ferguson, daughter, Cynthia Russell Balaber, sons Charles A. Ferguson and Christopher O. (Dawn) Ferguson. He is also survived by grandchildren Charles S. Ferguson, Peter Ferguson Russell, William Ferguson, Courtney Sargent-Ferguson and Charlee Rose Ferguson. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 20 at 10 a.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1123 Ella T. Grasso Blvd., New Haven, CT. Interment will be private.
