Hamden Resident Earns GNAC Weekly Honor

The Hamden High School graduate was named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll.

HAMDEN, CT — Hamden’s Diamond White and Jakara Murray-Leach, of Norwalk, of the Albertus Magnus College women's basketball team were named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Weekly Honor Roll for their performances this week.

White, a Hamden High School graduate, scored 30 points to go along with five assists, four rebounds, two steals, and a block in an 85-70 victory over Baruch College in the Falcons' lone game of the week. She shot 63.2 percent from the field (12-of-19) and an impressive 66.7 percent from by hitting six of nine 3-pointers.

Murray-Leach notched her third double-double of the season in the win over Baruch College. She contributed 19 points, 16 rebounds, and also dished out eight assists. She went 8-of-18 from the floor shooting 44.4 percent.

For the season, White is averaging 18.3 points to go with 2.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game while shooting 44 percent from the field and 50 percent from 3-point range. Murray-Leach is averaging 13.5 points along with 9 rebounds and 1.3 assist per game in the first six games of the season.

The Falcons return to action Friday as they host St. Joseph's (L.I.) at the Nest at 5:30 p.m.
