Hamden Resident Named To GNAC All-Tournament Team

The Hamden High School graduate has been named to the All-Great Northeast Athletic Conference tournament team.

HAMDEN, CT — Hamden’s Justice Washington, a senior on the Albertus Magnus College men’s basketball team, was named to the All-Great Northeast Athletic Conference tournament team after his performances last week in the quarterfinals and semifinals.

Caitlyn Scott (White Plains, N.Y.) of the Albertus Magnus women's basketball team was also named to the women’s all-tournament team.

Washington averaged 27 points and 13.5 rebounds over the two games. In the quarterfinals win over Regis, he scored 22 points while grabbing 10 rebounds. In the semifinals against Saint Joseph's (Me.), he had a career-high 32 points on 15-for-32 shooting with 17 rebounds.

It is the second consecutive season Washington was named to the All-Tournament team.

Scott averaged 27 points on 57.6 percent shooting with four rebounds and 3.5 assists in her two games in the tournament. In a win over New England College in the quarterfinals, Scott scored 31 points on 10-for-17 shooting with four rebounds and three assists. She also went 4-for-7 from 3-point line.

Against the University of Saint Joseph on February 22, Scott scored 23 points on 9-for-16 shooting with four assists and four rebounds.
