Hamden Resident Records Milestone In Albertus Magnus Season Opener
The Hamden High School graduate scored her 1,000th career point for the Albertus Magnus College women's basketball team on Wednesday night.
HAMDEN, CT — Hamden’s Diamond White, a senior on the Albertus Magnus College women’s basketball team, scored her 1,000th career point in the Falcons’ 73-65 loss to New Jersey City University in Wednesday night’s season opener.
White, a Hamden High School graduate, became the 18th member of the women's basketball program to achieve the milestone, joining two current teammates who joined the club last season, Caitlyn Scott (White Plains, N.Y.) and Jakara Murray-Leach (Norwalk, Conn.).
White reached the milestone at the 8:07 mark of the first quarter to give Albertus a 5-2 lead.

White led the Falcons with 22 points to go with three rebounds, three steals and three assists. Scott scored 17 points and Murray-Leach had 13.
White scored the first seven points for the Falcons to start the game, giving them a 7-4 lead early on, but an 18-4 run over a 3:40 stretch put NJCU up, 22-9. Na'tori Postell hit four straight 3-pointers for NJCU to open up the lead. The Gothic Knights took a 29-14 lead at the end of the first 10 minutes behind the seven points from White and five from Scott.

NJCU led by as much as 21 in the second quarter, and led 48-29 at the half. Whtie had five points and Ava Johnson (North Haven) and Sarah Evangelista (West Haven) each had four during the quarter.
The Falcons trimmed the deficit to single digits at 59-50 the end of the third quarter, but NJCU held on for the victory.
White is now 17th all-time in scoring in Albertus history with 1,018 points.
