Hamden Woman Arrested After Toddler Nearly Walks Into Road In New Canaan: Police

Police said the Hamden woman is accused of leaving the child home alone for a few minutes while she picked up another child in New Canaan.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A Hamden woman accused of leaving a toddler home alone was arrested Saturday after the child was spotted nearly walking into a roadway in New Canaan, according to New Canaan police.

In an arrest log, police said officers were called to the area of New Norwalk Road around 12:30 p.m. after a driver traveling north reported seeing a toddler nearly walk into the roadway.

After further investigation, officers determined a 39-year-old Hamden woman left the child home alone for a few minutes while she picked up another child at a tennis club in town, according to police.

The woman was charged with risk of injury to a child and released on a $1,000 bond.

She is scheduled to appear in court later this month, according to police.
