Major Changes Announced For Hamden’s Earth Day Celebration
Officials have announced a revised schedule, including the cancellation and postponement of several events and activities.
HAMDEN, CT — Hamden’s Earth Day Celebration will be moved indoors on Saturday, April 26 due to the inclement weather in the forecast, officials announced Friday.
The event will take place inside Thornton Wilder Auditorium at the Miller Cultural Complex, 2901 Dixwell Avenue in Hamden.
“Please join us from 10AM to 3PM tomorrow, Saturday, April 26 for several family-friendly, educational, earth-friendly and environmentally conscious exhibitors and activities,” officials wrote in a news release.

10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (all day):

- All exhibitors will be located inside Thornton Wilder Auditorium
- Food trucks will be located outside of Thornton Wilder Auditorium in the Miller Cultural Complex parking lot
- The P.L.A.C.E. Arts on the Go Trolley will be located outside of Thornton Wilder Auditorium in the Miller Cultural Complex parking lot
10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.:
- The Hamden Middle School PTA Clothing Drive will take place in the tent in front of the barn by Josh’s Jungle
10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.:
- The Solid Waste & Recycling Commission Clothing Swap will take place in the tent in front of the barn by Josh’s Jungle
10:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.:
- Music by Frank Panzarella will take place on stage in Thornton Wilder Auditorium
11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.:
- Hamden's Power Smart Campaign will take place in Thornton Wilder Auditorium
12:45 p.m. to 1 p.m.:
- Mayor Lauren Garrett will speak in Thornton Wilder Auditorium
These activities and events will not take place Saturday, April 26 due to the anticipated inclement weather:
- The on-site litter cleanup at the barn from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. has been canceled
- Roger's DIY Circus for Kids from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. has been canceled
- The “Don't Trash It! Refashion It!” Workshop from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. is postponed to a later date
- The Blue Moon Raptors from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. is postponed to a later date
Thank you to the Six Lakes Park Coalition and Save the Sound for hosting a Spring Perimeter Cleanup on Sunday, April 27. Registration has reached full capacity.
