Motor Vehicle Stop Leads to Crack Arrest

Dixwell Avenue woman allegedly had crack and paraphernalia in the car.

On Feb. 4 at approximately 1 a.m. Officer Robert Manfield of the Patrol Division conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Dixwell Avenue and Woodin Street.

Further investigation lead to the search of the motor vehicle, where officers located crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia.  

A passenger in the motor vehicle, identified as Kathleen Murphy, 21, of 1166 Dixwell Ave., was promptly arrested and charged with possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Murphy was released on a $2,500 non-surety bond with a court date of Feb. 15 in Meriden.

On Feb. 2 at about 6:30 p.m., Officer William May of the Patrol Division conducted a motor vehicle stop for a motor vehicle violation.  

Further investigation revealed that the front passenger in the motor vehicle, Clayton Morse, 29, had several outstanding arrest warrants from different agencies.  

Morse, of 991 Quinnipiac Ave., New Haven, was charged with failure to appear in court and released after posting $500.00 bond

He is due to appear in Middletown Superior Court on Feb. 18.
