The Hamden and Sacred Heart Academy girls basketball teams squared off in the first game of the season series on Tuesday night.
HAMDEN, CT — The Sacred Heart Academy girls basketball team remained undefeated with a 52-32 victory over town rival Hamden on Tuesday night at Hamden High School.
The Sharks, ranked second in the GameTimeCT Top 10 Girls Basketball Poll, improved to 7-0 with the win.
Hamden (5-4) battled and trailed only 11-10 at the end of the first quarter.

Sacred Heart Academy took a 28-20 lead into halftime, before pulling away in the third quarter when it outscored Hamden 17-2.
Mila Harmon scored a game-high 20 points for the Sharks, while Maddy Burke finished with 18 points, according to GameTimeCT.

Aunee Brookshire led the Green Dragons with nine points, while Micah Pullen and Kyleigh Goldson each scored six points apiece.
Hamden will look to get back into the win column when it takes on Mercy on Friday, Jan. 16 in Middletown.
Sacred Heart Academy will play Mater Dei High School in a non-league game on Saturday, Jan. 17 at the Blake Arena at Springfield College.
