Much-Anticipated Restaurant Opens In Hamden

The restaurant's first Connecticut location has opened in Hamden.

HAMDEN, CT — The much-anticipated Ugly Dumpling restaurant has opened in Hamden, The Connecticut Scoop reported.

Ugly Dumpling is located in the former TGI Fridays space at 2335 Dixwell Ave. TGI Fridays abruptly closed in early January.

The Hamden location is the first Ugly Dumpling restaurant in Connecticut.

Ugly Dumpling serves local recipes inspired by the bustling streets of Shanghai.

“From hand-folded Dim Sum and savory Wontons to wok-prepared noodles and vibrant, garlic-infused vegetables, our menu is a celebration of street food culture,” reads a post on the restaurant’s website. “Yet, the true star of our lineup is the Xiao Long Bao. With six variations of these delectable soup dumplings, we promise an irresistible burst of flavor in every bite. Much like wandering through a bustling food alley in Shanghai, each visit to Ugly Dumpling invites you to savor and discover.”

The Hamden location is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
