Obituary: Arthur “Greg” Meyer, 62, of Hamden
Greg, an avid golfer and standout athlete in his youth, was a devoted family man and enjoyed a long successful career in insurance.

HAMDEN, CT - (From Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home) Arthur “Greg” Meyer, 62, of Hamden, passed away suddenly at his home on January 31, 2022 after a battle with cancer. Greg was born in North Attleborough, MA on June 16, 1959 to the late Arthur H. & Dorothy Lavalle Meyer.
Greg was married to his best friend, Carole McLean Meyer, for the last 34 years. He grew up in Wrentham, MA, where he attended King Philip Regional High School and became a star athlete in football, basketball, & tennis.
As the quarterback for the football team his talent got him into the King Philip Sports Hall of Fame. He spent summers in Mattapoisett, MA by the water, which was his favorite place to be. He graduated from The University of Rhode Island with a BA.
When not working or spending time with his family, Greg’s favorite pastime was golf.
He could often be found playing at Laurel View Country Club. For 29 years he worked in insurance for Zurich before spending the last four years with The Package Group.
Besides his wife, Greg will be lovingly missed by his daughter, Lauren Meyer of New York, NY; son, Michael Meyer of Arlington, VA; sisters, Kimberly Meyer and Jennifer Feeney; and brother, Dwight Meyer.
Friends are invited to visit with his family on Saturday, February 5th from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden.
Burial will be private. Greg’s family would like to commemorate him with a Memorial Bench placed at one of his favorite locations.
