Obituary: John J. “Hawk” Adamo, 74, of Hamden

John, a retired pipe insulator for Heat & Frost Insulators Local #33, cherished his family, friends, golfing, boating and fishing.

HAMDEN, CT - (From Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home) John J. “Hawk” Adamo, age 74, of Hamden, ended his journey on earth peacefully January 29, 2022 at home with his wife Holly (Graf) Adamo and faithful dog Sergio by his side.

Born in New Haven February 16, 1947, he was a son of the late John & Carmela (Munz) Adamo and brother to the late Tom, Patricia & Frances. John is also survived by his loving children, Harrison Adamo, Sam (Ally) Adamo and Ashley (fiancée Johnny Darko) Adamo.

He sadly leaves his beloved grandchildren, Dominic, Jayden & Evelyn. Also left to cherish his memory are a host of nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, loved ones, and many friends old and young.

John was a retired pipe insulator for Heat & Frost Insulators Local #33. Growing up in the Hill Section of New Haven, he always enjoyed keeping in touch with the boys & girls from “The Hill.”

An avid golfer, he played in many leagues with fun partners and enjoyed sharing a cold one at the 19th Hole (where John and Holly met 35 years ago).

John spent summers on his boat in Branford, fishing whenever he could. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and member of the Hamden Knights of Columbus.

Friends may attend his Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 12th at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Hamden.

His burial with Military Honors and an after-service gathering will take place in the spring of 2022, at a date to be announced.
