Obituary: John “Jack” Francis Dillon, 92, of Hamden

Jack, a man of various interests and talents, was a sailor, master carpenter, journalist, photographer, artist, musician, and inventor.

HAMDEN, CT - (From Sisk Brothers Funeral Home) John “Jack” Francis Dillon, a long-time resident of Greenwich and Hamden, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on June 4 at the age of 92.

Born on November 5, 1929, in Bronx, New York, Jack was the cherished only child of Loretta and John Dillon. Jack proudly served aboard the U.S.S. Coral Sea as a mechanic for Navy fighter jets during the Korean War.

A kind, generous man of varied talents and interests, Jack was a sailor, master carpenter, writer, magazine editor, boat builder, photographer, artist, musician, and inventor.

His insatiable thirst for travel and adventure, love for his family, and unrivaled passion for the sea and sailing shaped his long and remarkable life.

He will be forever missed by his life companion Johanna Becker, son Brian John Dillon, daughter Carrie Elizabeth Dillon and his beloved grandchildren: Carrianne Seline Dillon, Madison Dillon Yates and Wyatt Dillon Yates.

A Memorial gathering will be held at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden on Friday, June 10, 2022 from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon.

Burial will follow with military honors in Mt. Carmel Burial Ground.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans CT Chapter, 80 Hall Ave., Suite 801, Meriden, CT 06450.
