Obituary: Maria Mongillo, 99, of Hamden

Maria, a devoted mother and talented seamstress, was an avid card player and enjoyed cooking, cleaning and sewing.

HAMDEN, CT - (From Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home) Maria Mongillo, 99, of Hamden died peacefully Oct. 29th at the Regency House of Wallingford.

Born in New Haven, daughter of the late Augustine & Rose Rosati Marchetti, she worked for many years as a seamstress for local companies.

Maria was an avid card player, and enjoyed cooking, cleaning and sewing.

She is survived by a son Robert (Amy) Mongillo of Cheshire, a daughter Carol Mongillo Negri of Wallingford, grandchildren; Laura & Daniel Mongillo, and R.J. Negri, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband Carmen Rapuano, and her husband of 60 years, Benjamin Mongillo, as well as two brothers and five sisters.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial THURSDAY 11 A.M. in Blessed Sacrament (C.B.O.L) Church, Hamden.

Calling hours will be held Thursday morning from 9-10:30 in the Peter H. Torello & Son F.H., 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden. Burial will follow in All Saints cemetery.
