Obituary: Michael J. Barone, 91, formerly of Hamden
Michael was a proud U.S. Army veteran and a retired Superintendent for the Town of Hamden Department of Public Works.
HAMDEN, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Michael J. Barone, 91, of Wallingford, formerly of Hamden, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 9, 2022.
He was the beloved husband of Marie (Vissicchio) Barone of 65 years.
Michael was born in Hamden, April 20, 1931, a son of the late Joseph M. and Antoinette (Pasquale) Barone and stepmother, Angelina (Savastano) Barone. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War.
He retired from the Town of Hamden Department of Public Works where he was a Superintendent.
In addition to his wife Marie, he is survived by his children, Carol Sauza and her husband Benjamin of Meriden, Marie Szeligowski and her husband Robert of Wallingford, and Joseph Barone and his wife Janet of Wallingford; his grandchildren, Steven Szeligowski, Amanda Gagliardi (Robert), Gabriella Sauza, Vincent Szeligowski (Magee), Andrea Barone, Michael Barone Carla Sauza and his great-grandchildren, Nathan and Leonardo; his sister, Marilyn Tarducci and her husband Lawrence; and several nephews.
Michael’s family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Tuesday, May 10th, from 5-7 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 11th at 1:30pm direct at Church of the Resurrection, 115 Pond Hill Rd., Wallingford. Interment will be private.
