Obituary: Steven F. Wilson, 81, formerly of Hamden
Steven, a dedicated track and field coach, had a long career in engineering and human resources, ending his tenure at Yale University.

HAMDEN, CT - (From Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home) Steven F. Wilson, 81, formerly of Hamden, CT, died July 30, 2021 at the Capital Health Medical Center in New Jersey.
He was the husband of the late Doris G. Wilson.
Steven was born in Philadelphia , PA, November 24, 1939 the son of Cleophas and Harriet Wilson.
Steven resided in Hamden for the last 38 years by way of Pennsylvania, Washington, DC and New Jersey.
Steven was a Vietnam/Korea era Veteran and attended Howard University with a focus in Engineering using his GI Bill.
Steven had a long career in engineering and human resources and ended his tenure at Yale University.
In retirement, Steven (AKA Coach) dedicated most of his time coaching track to young people and helped many secure athletic scholarships to college.
He is survived by his two daughters, Toni Wilson-King of Washington, DC and Kori Wilson-Griffin of Lawrenceville, NJ, sons in law, Changa B King and Marc Griffin, sister Barbra Derry and grandchildren, Layla Griffin, Mari Griffin, Aiden King and Wyatt King.
He is pre-deceased by his twin sisters Joyce and Jean and a daughter Sylvia Wilson. Friends are invited to attend a service FRIDAY at 1 P.M. in the Peter H. Torello & Son F.H., 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden. Calling hours are from 12 P.M. - 1 P.M.
Interment in St. Mary's cemetery. Due to COVID-19 restraints we will also be streaming service through Zoom and following mask protocols.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Sylvia Wilson Memorial Scholarship.
