One Arrested in State Street Home Invasion

A man who police say broke into his ex-wife's home Sunday afternoon is now facing home invasion and drug charges.

Thomas Pellegrino, 57, whose address is unknown, was charged with home invasion, violation of a protective order, disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Hamden Police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.

Police were called to 2196 State St. at about 3:15 p.m. Sunday for a domestic dispute, Smith said. There, they learned that Pelligrino had allegedly broke into the apartment through a window, Smith said.

Once he was in the home, Pelligrino got into a "physical altercation" with his ex-wife's 27-year-old son, Smith said, and tried to get to his ex-wife.

He took off before police arrived, Smith said, but a short time later Officer John Glass caught up with him on Hubbard Place and arrested him, Smith said. When police searched Pellegrino, they found on him drug paraphernalia, he said.

Pellegrino was held in lieu of $25,000 bond and was arraigned Monday in Meriden Superior Court.

Officer Andrew Pfeiffer conducted the investigation, Smith said.
