Hamden’s Garden of Hope and Reflection is a special place for those in need of peace – a place to remember those who have passed due to breast cancer, to honor those who have survived breast cancer and to recognize the importance of supportive caregivers. A granite bench and signage on a piece of Stony Creek granite with a bronze plaque has been donated and added to the Garden of Hope and Reflection.
Paint Hamden Pink began eight years ago and is made up of volunteers who came together to provide hope, awareness and information to those in the Hamden community whose lives have been touched by breast cancer. The mission of the Paint Hamden Pink Committee is to educate the community and spread the word that early detection of breast cancer is the key to saving lives.
Due to the past support of more than 140 Hamden businesses, places of worship, schools, the Hamden Mayor’s Office, the Hamden Fire and Police Departments, Department of Public Works, and the Hamden Regional Chamber of Commerce, Paint Hamden Pink has raised over $40,000 for Making Strides against Breast Cancer.
The committee encourages anyone interested in making a contribution to donate to a breast cancer group of your choice.
