Police: Hamden Man Arrested For Threatening Mother of 3

Edward Chieppo was arrested on Monday for allegedly pointing a gun in the direction of a New Haven woman and her three young children.

A Hamden man was arrested Monday after he allegedly threatened a woman and her three young children.

On Sunday, a New Haven woman received a text message from the father of her three children, who she has a protective order against, according to the New Haven Register. That violated the protective order, according to the Register.

On Monday, she received a phone call from Edward Chieppo, 26, of Hamden, saying he was going to shoot up her New Haven home, according to the New Haven Register. Chieppo is a friend of the children's father, according to the Register.

Later that day, the woman - who was with her three children, aged 4, 3 and 7 months - saw Chieppo in his truck outside her home, according to the New Haven Register. Chieppo allegedly pointed a gun out of the truck's window, and then continued to circle the neighborhood, according to the Register.

Within minutes, police apprehended Chieppo at his home in Hamden, where he lives with his grandmother, according to the New Haven Register. He agreed to let police search the home, where they found marijuana, drug paraphernalia, a handgun and a homemade silencer, according to the Register.

Chieppo was charged later that day with second-degree threatening, three counts of risk of injury to a minor, first-degree reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a firearm, weapon in a motor vehicle and driving with a suspended registration, according to the New Haven Register.
