Police Make Arrest in Woodin Street Burglary

A New Haven man was charged with the June 24 burglary, according to police.

A New Haven man is facing charges in connection with a burglary that occurred last month on Woodin Street.

Gregory Williams, 29, of 26 Daggett St., New Haven, was charged with third-degree burglary and fifth-degree larceny, according to Hamden police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith. 

The incident happened on June 24, when police got a report of a forcible burglary on Woodin Street, Smith said. Responding officers found that someone had broken down the front door of the home and stole luggage and jewelry, he said.

After investigating, Officer Michael Cirillo submitted an arrest warrant application to the court for Williams' arrest, Smith said. On Friday, members of the Hamden Police Department Street Interdiction Team arrested Williams during a motor vehicle stop on Dixwell Avenue, Smith said. 

Williams was held in lieu of $2,500 bond, is due to appear in Meriden Superior Court on July 24.
