
An 18-year-old man was apparently beaten and robbed Thursday night by a group of 10 men in the area of Dixwell Avenue and Arch Street, according to police.
At about 11:45 p.m. Thursday, Hamden Police responded to the report of a fight in progress, according to police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.
"Upon arrival officers found an 18 year-old male lying in the street in a semi-conscious state. Officers learned that his cell phone was stolen," Smith said in a statement Friday. Â "Witnesses advised police that a group of 'at least 10 black males' chased the victim from Taste of the City. The witnesses further advised police that several individuals participated in the robbery/ assault."

The victim taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital for treatment, Smith said. His condition wasn't clear Friday.
Officer Bryan Kelly conducted the initial investigation, Smith said.
