A group of teens accosted a Hamden man early Saturday morning and assaulted him before robbing him of personal items, according to police.
The man was walking in the area of Dixwell Avenue and North Street around 1:30 a.m. when four or five black males around 14 to 16 years old surrounded him, according to Hamden Police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.
"The victim was punched repeatedly in the face and briefly lost consciousness," Smith said. "The individuals stole his personal belongings, including electronic equipment."
Hamden Fire Department personnel treated him at the scene before he was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hamden Police Department Detective Division at 203-230-4040 or 230-4000.
Officer Enrique Rivera-Rodriguez conducted the initial investigation, Smith said.
