Route 10 Closed In Both Directions Due To Overnight Crash: Police

The road is closed between Mt Carmel Avenue and Sherman Avenue so crews can respond to spilled water caused by an overnight accident.

HAMDEN, CT — Route 10 (Whitney Avenue) is currently closed indefinitely in both directions between Mt Carmel Avenue and Sherman Avenue.

The closure is because of an overnight accident in which a fire hydrant was hit, causing water to spill over the roadway, police said.

Crews are on scene to respond to the situation. Police said they don't know how long the closure will last and said drivers should avoid the area.
