West Haven Man Facing Burglary Charges
Police were investigating a robbery at the Whitneyville Bottle Shop when they allegedly found a man in an unoccupied Rogers Road home.

A West Haven man was arrested on burglary charges after he was found in an unoccupied Rogers Road home by officers investigation a liquor store robbery, according to police.
The incident began Saturday at about 3:15 p.m. when the Whitneyville Bottle Shop at 1226 Whitney Ave. was robbed, according to police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.

Employees there told police that a women, estimated to be about 18 to 22 years old, about 5'5" with strawberry blong hair, entered the store and told the clerk, "This is a robbery," Smith said.
She had a knife and implied she had a gun, Smith said, and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was hurt, he said.

The investigation took police to the 83 Rogers Road residence, which was unoccuplied, Smith said, where they found Peter Pizzillo, 25, of 68 Westfield Street, West Haven, hiding.
He was charged with third-degree burglary and interfering with a police officer. He posted $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Sept. 7.
The Hamden Police Department Detective Division is continuing the robbery investigation, Smith said.
