2 High Schoolers Killed In Apartment Complex Shooting: Police

The teens were found unresponsive in a stairwell, according to police.

HARTFORD — Two Hartford high school students were shot and killed Saturday night, according to reports.

Officers responded around 10:30 p.m. to multiple calls for shots fired at an apartment complex on Hendricxsen Avenue, according to police, who said the teens were found unresponsive in a stairwell.

The victims, identified as Lavante Brown, 19, of Hartford, and Aydin Davis, 16, of Bloomfield, were pronounced dead at Hartford Hospital, police said.

In a statement to the Hartford Public Schools community published by WTNH, Superintendent Leslie Torres-Rodriguez said that Brown attended Weaver High School and Davis was a student at University High School of Science and Engineering.

“Our District Crisis Intervention Team has been assembled and will help with the needs of students, families, and school personnel,” she said. “We have counselors and social workers available for any student who may need or want help or any type of assistance.”
